Massachusetts unemployment insurance (UI) covers most employees in the state, including full-time, part-time, and seasonal workers. To be eligible for UI benefits, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be able to work and available for work.
- You must be unemployed through no fault of your own.
- You must have earned a certain amount of wages in the past year.
- You must file a claim for benefits within a certain timeframe.
The amount of benefits you receive will depend on your earnings and your work history. You can receive up to 26 weeks of benefits.
To file a claim for UI benefits, you can:

- Call 1-877-626-6800.
- Visit a Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) office.
When you file a claim, you will need to provide the following information:
- Your name, address, and Social Security number.
- Your employer’s name, address, and phone number.
- The dates you were employed and the wages you earned.
- The reason you are unemployed.
The DUA will review your claim and determine if you are eligible for benefits. If you are approved, you will receive a benefit payment every two weeks.
